History

The Calvary Church Scouting Ministry was established in September 1998 with the chartering of Cub Scout Pack 957, with the purpose of providing an environment that would encourage the development of godly character in the first through fifth grade boys of Calvary Church and our community, as well as in the adults that served to mentor those youth.

Cub Scout Pack 957 Mission Statement

As an extension of the Calvary Church Children’s and Family Ministries program, Pack 957’s mission is to provide a Christ centered, family focused and fun-filled program for parents to develop strong relationships with their elementary age sons using the Cub Scouting program materials provided by the Boy Scouts of America.

The Scouting Ministry expanded to middle school and high school boys and their parents when Boy Scout Troop 957 was chartered in June of 2000 as the second Scouting unit at Calvary Church.

Boy Scout Troop 957 Mission Statement

As an extension of the Calvary Church Children’s and Family Ministries program, Troop 957’s mission is to provide a safe Christian environment to help boys become godly men using the Boy Scouting program materials provided by the Boy Scouts of America.

Lastly, the Scouting Ministry expanded to include coed youth ages 14 to 20, and their parents, when Venturing Crew 957 was chartered in August 2003 as the third Calvary Church Scouting unit.

Venturing Crew 957 Mission Statement

As an extension of the Calvary Church Children’s and Family Ministries program, Crew 957’s mission is to provide a safe Christian environment to help young people develop the leadership skills necessary to become the future leaders of our families, churches and communities using the Venturing program materials provided by the Boy Scouts of America.

The BSA provides an annual charter to each Scouting unit so that Pack 957, Troop 957, and Crew 957 may continue to use the materials of the Boy Scouts of America in their youth programs.  Calvary Church is considered the Chartering Organization for these units.

CCSM has adopted the following verse as its guiding verse:

"And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men."  Luke 2:52
